"Austin (KXAN) - Comedian Jeff Foxworthy announced Wednesday that COTA will host the first ever RedFest, a three day celebration of the outdoor lifestyle. The festival will take place over the 2014 Memorial Day weekend, beginning Friday, May 23 through Sunday, May, 25.

Foxworthy is the founder of RedFest and said the event is more about celebrating the 'red, white and blue," rather than his redneck-centric humor. "To make RedFest really rock, we had to find the coolest place in America to serve as our host city, and right now Austin is the place to be," said Foxworthy. COTA organizers are optimistic about the partnership.

“RedFest is sure to become one of the most unique entertainment festivals on the calendar, and we’re hoping to attract tens of thousands of people to Central Texas to be part of the inaugural event,” said Paul Thornton who heads COTA’s events and entertainment division.
